Sem (They/Them)

Groomer

 SEM.website.pic

Sem is originally a graduate of Petsmart’s Training Academy in November 2017. Wanting further education they took online courses and worked with Paddy Gaffney to develop skills geared towards Poodles and Poodle mixes, and Samoyeds (as well as all double-coated breeds). Currently, Sem is working on achieving the title of Certified Master Groomer with the IPG and CPPS. Sem joined the Furry Friends team in February 2020.

Sem loves working with puppies and doing nail trims for anxious dogs and cats. Their calming presence works wonders to help ease their minds.

Sem enjoys creative grooming, so if that’s of interest, and you are willing to visit every 4 weeks, that may be an option we can work on! They also enjoy spritz’s of cologne and finishing touches like bows, feathers and nail polish.

Sem lives with two affectionate and loving cats. Typhon, is a tortoiseshell-coloured, big, lazy cat whose favourite place to sit is Sem’s lap. Anri is a smokey blue mix with a plush coat. Their mother owns a Samoyed named Koda and a Sheltie named Skye who are the light of their lives.

"Extraordinary creature! So close a friend, and yet so remote."

Furry Friends Spa and Daycare, formerly Dawn of a New Day, opened it's doors over 15 years ago. This is thanks to you and the firm belief that your companions deserve comfort in their lives. In November 2014, we moved to a new location situated on Hawthorne Avenue near the Rideau Canal. We modernised the grooming salon and opened a doggy daycare and cat boarding facility. New equipment has also been purchased giving the salon some of the best tools in the industry. Throughout all these changes, we have maintained our goal of providing the highest quality grooming standard, for which our reputation is known. We are looking forward to more changes and improvements in the future.

AT FURRY FRIENDS SPA and DAYCARE, PEOPLE ARE MY CLIENTS And PETS ARE MY FRIENDS!

"Dogs come when they are called; cats take a message and get back to you later."

Assistants

Our grooming assistants play an essential role in your pet’s grooming experience. They are typically responsible for the massaging baths and hand drying your pet. Some have taken courses as part of the Grooming Assistant Program at Algonquin College or private seminars held by animal behaviour experts. We are very proud to have these members contribute to our professional team.

All members of are team are always looking to further their skills. We attend private courses and seminars both in Canada and the United Sates and are always preparing for our next level of certification. The certification process is important to us, being certified means we have been tested and evaluated by our peers and have met a high quality standard within the industry.
